Make a list of the different aspects of your culture as they manifest in the way you live your life

Culture can be defined as the ideas, the customs as well as social behaviors and beliefs that defines a person or a general society. It can as well be regarded as the people’s way of life, what they do and how they do it or the morals, the goals and the customers that a given society have in common. From a personal point of view, there are notable aspects that define my way of life. This task will provide a critical analysis of my personal cultural orientation with a specific focus on my religion, the food preferences as well as the language.

The first element of culture is religion. I am a devoted Catholic, with a long-standing belief of its rules and doctrines. Although I respect other churches and religious doctrines, my family has had a long standing believe in all the aspects the Catholic religion. There are notable ways through which my religious belief helps to define my personal culture. The religious belief has been key in shaping my perception about the values of family. As a catholic, I believe in a united family similar to the biblical family. As a Spanish/Filipino, I am very religious, respectful and with a long-standing celebration about Christmas.

The second element of culture is food where I prefer Spice foods/sea foods and meats. Since one of my hobbies is cooking, I often ensure I make spicy food and especially sea food which can suit my preferences. This cultural orientation has shaped my perception about how food can shape our general perception about life in general.

Work Environment Assessment

The third element is language which is Spanish/ Tagalog/American. As a Spanish, we are known to be polite as well as courteous such that when talking with parents and people regarded to be elderly, we kiss their right hands or touch on their foreheads. This is especially the case when going on a long journey or when arriving at home safely every day. When conversing with the elderly, the language is polite as well as appealing to the target audience. Since our language is based on Latin, it is known to be appealing and attractive even to those who may not understand it. This cultural orientation helps to define my general relationship with others especially the seniors in society who deserve respect. Besides, we believe in using proper language as a tool to engage others even those we don’t know. Furthermore, the language called on everyone to show respect for what happens around them.

Conclusion

A critical analysis of different cultural perspectives is important as it helps in explaining personal culture. This task has provided a personal account of different cultural elements. The first focus was on religion where my orientation with being a catholic has helped to shape the perception I have about family and respect for the values that society holds dear. Such values include observing the church doctrines such as Christmas and prayer for the intercession of mother Mary, love for one another and undertaking aspects that reflect the biblical family of Jesus. The second cultural aspect covered in the task is the food preference which helps to explain the general Spanish foods like the love for spicy, sea foods and meats. The foods depict the traditional foods that almost every Spanish/American and Tagalog prefers. The last cultural element is language whereby I speak both Spanish, American or Tagalog. The languages help to explore the need for humility and demonstrating respect during communication especially with the people such as parents who are elderly.
