Dear…………,

The drop in the number of patients seen recently indicates the need to improve relations and develop a culturally supportive environment. To achieve this, I will gather a group of people, and those people will be able to conduct a joint review of issues behind the scenes, raise awareness of all staff about cultural norms, and develop long-term solutions that will help enhance relations with our community in the region. In the next few weeks, I will be mentoring the committee on how to ensure communication, understand the cultural diversity, and establish teamwork to determine viable solutions and make our patients’ experience more welcoming.

The leader of a project needs to possess many qualities in order to be able to have a project that is based on diversity, cultural sensitivity, and the trust of the community. For one, cultural humility. A culturally humble leader recognizes that learning is a lifelong process; the leader is constantly evaluating his or her knowledge, is open-minded and respectful to beliefs and practices that may be different from his or her own (Lansing et al., 2023). Such a mindset is important when dealing with Haiti’s residents who may hold a deep-seated attachment to a culture where their values and health practices form a substantial basis that can not be breached in the care environment. Emotional intelligence is another value. Highly emotionally intelligent workers are aware of their emotional reactions, able to take the perspectives of others, and are not inclined to engage in negative communication even in stressful situations (Drigas et al., 2023). This is particularly relevant in the context of fragile relations in the workplace or where there is a need to understand cultural conventions. It is also a matter of urgency that visionary thinking is called for. The leader should be able to convey the importance of incorporating cultural competence into clinical practice and provide leadership to ensure that the team moves in the same direction (Diggele et al., 2020). The flexibility also better enables the effectiveness of community-responsive leadership that can be optimized based on community feedback and new challenges introduced in the project. Last but not least, collaborative leadership helps to foster unity and the sharing of problems. The collaborative leaders rely on teamwork since they accommodate divergent ideas and help the teams to achieve mutual outcomes, which is crucial in addressing the challenging social and cultural problems at the clinic.

If it’s the leader, one of the people whose attributes I could connect to this project, I would talk about Dr. Vivek Murthy, the 19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States of America. Dr. Murthy’s efforts in community health and his focus on compassion are what make him so well-known. This included the planning to enhance relationships between the health care providers and the people they serve (Gallant, 2025). Before he was appointed Surgeon General, he also co-founded Doctors for America, worked extensively in the primary care field, and worked extensively with communities, understanding what their social and cultural needs were. One of the most important and impactful leadership traits that he has is that he is able to establish trust through communicative, empathic, attentive, and human connection attributes, which is crucial in the context of addressing cultural differences in healthcare environments.

I strongly associate myself with the bond and integration as emphasized by Dr. Murthy in problem-solving. Like him, I am concerned with developing a positive atmosphere that supports and includes multiple perspectives. Through research, it has always been believed that different perspectives will be more effective and sustainable in solving the problem (Wood, 2021). The interdisciplinary partnership had previously been developed during the design of the initiatives to make patient education and working more efficient, including regular feedback meetings, defining the goals, and asking all partners to participate. There is, however, a difference between the size of experiences in leadership (Gallant, 2025). Dr. Murthy usually does his work at the national level, formulating the health care message and policy, while I have worked more at a smaller level in the clinical environment. In addition, Dr. Murthy often uses narrative and involvement in the community as a means of offering hope for change. I want to be clear and effective.I want to be present as a leader in the story, so I can have a better relationship with staff and other community members. Despite the differences, he and I share values of empathy, collaboration, and accountability that will greatly shape my approach to the diversity initiative within the Lakeland clinic.

I will employ transformational leadership (TL) in this project. Transformational leadership is greatly valued in the healthcare sector as it facilitates change, drives more motivation, and dedication to a shared objective (Tsapnidou et al., 2024). In the course of my job, I will also be listening to and motivating, supporting the interdisciplinary committee by giving them a clear view of cultural competence and inclusivity that directly transfers to the staff and the Haitian community. Another aspect of my work will be open communication promotion, new ideas promotion, and culturally humble behavior. By teaching the team the importance of cultural awareness and being a good example of how I would act in a respectful way, I will set a precedent that will be followed. Transformational leadership also promotes independent thinking and innovation in the development of meaningful diversity strategies (Tsapnidou et al., 2024). At the same time, knowledge of personal strengths of each member of the team will help build trust and ensure that the work of each member of the group is valued. Because of the complexities surrounding the cultural aspects of the healthcare setting, TL is uniquely positioned to be the first in the team to come up with viable and empathic outcomes that would result in the clinic having a better rapport with the community.

As this initiative is developed through proper teamwork, I will enable teamwork through several organized methods. To begin with, I will ensure that every member of the committee understands their work, operations, and deliverables. It has a clear hierarchy that shuns confusion and redundancy (Ji & Yan, 2020). To monitor progress, solve issues, and share information, frequent meetings will be organized (Ji & Yan, 2020). To achieve more efficient communication between meetings, Microsoft Teams or Slack will be used in the team, which will allow sharing files, making real-time updates, and open communication. They will decide in a participatory way, depending on the consensus-building strategies to ensure that the view of each member will be considered. It will be used especially when the case of cultural sensitivity is to be discussed (Lynch, 2025). I will also apply team-building activities to build trust, relationships, and promote the free flow of information. Good interpersonal relations are also observed to assist the teams in coming up with constructive and supportive conflict resolution. Finally, I will encourage continuous reflection and feedback so that the committee learns continuously and devises strategies that will directly help the cultural competence, patient trust, and overall improvement of the service delivery by the clinic. The preceding will help in winning the team and will help us to best utilize our ability to deal with diversity issues.

The concerns surrounding the diversity in Lakeland Clinic can be addressed reflectively through transformational leadership and proper collaboration and communication among the professionals across different backgrounds. Through this initiative, the staff will have a great feel of how they can deal with different cultural groups, and that will help to build community trust and create a more welcoming clinical environment. I will endeavor to be empathetic, respectful, and open, and ensure that all the voices are heard and contributions made towards creating a difference. I am also eager to work with the executive staff and the clinic director in implementing solutions that will make our clinic more welcoming and culturally sensitive.

Again, many thanks for your confidence in me.
